Born and raised in Yakima, WA, Jarod has spent nearly four decades chasing salmon, steelhead, trout, and ocean species. He joined Yakima Bait Company in 2012 and now leads Sales, Marketing, Quality Control, and Education. A familiar face at major outdoor shows and one of Yakima Bait’s lure designers, Jarod delivers energetic seminars and develops innovative gear to help anglers catch more fish. Expect practical techniques from someone who lives and breathes fishing.
Richard Baker, Marine Electronics Specialist, Englund Marine
"Marine Electronics Overview"
With over 25 years in the marine electronics industry, Richard Baker has worked on both coasts of the United States, beginning at West Marine in Ft. Lauderdale before joining Simrad/Kongsberg and later Garmin. He brings extensive expertise in marine technology and navigation systems. An avid boater and fisherman, Richard combines hands-on offshore experience with decades of industry knowledge to help boaters better understand sonar, radar, and onboard electronics.
Shelley Allen, ODFW Certified Volunteer & Angling Instructor, ODFW
"Surf Perch Fishing: Gear, Tackle, Safey, Regulations and More"
An Oregon resident for over 60 years, Shelley Allen is an avid angler and ODFW Certified Volunteer Instructor who teaches surf perch workshops along the coast. In 2025, she placed 5th in the Oregon Surf Perch Championship Tournament — the only woman competing. A member of the Florence STEP group and Angler Education Instructor, Shelley spends more than 100 days a year fishing salmon, trout, bass, and surf perch. Expect practical shoreline experience from a passionate coastal angler.
Ed Chin, Professional Fishing Guide & Tournament Angler, Daiwa
"Daiwa Reels: Their Applications and how to use them for Spring Salmon, Halibut, or Bottom Fishing"
A Pacific Northwest native and Columbia/Willamette River bass expert, Ed Chin brings decades of tournament and on-the-water experience to the stage. A FLW/MLF Professional Angler and 2-time Oregon State Champion, Ed has competed at the national level and served in leadership roles within The Bass Federation and multiple ODFW advisory boards. Expect practical strategy, real-world techniques, and insights gained from a lifetime of chasing bass, salmon, sturgeon, and more.

Charles Loos, the Ocean Coach, turns decades of Pacific Northwest boating experience into practical, judgment-based training. Having trained 300+ captains and appearing regularly on TV and podcasts, he teaches boaters how to plan ahead, handle bars and coastal waters confidently, and stay safe on the water.

An Oregon resident for over 40 years, Matthew Huynh is an avid angler and ODFW Certified Volunteer Instructor. He fishes 20–25 trips annually and leads on-water surf perch classes along the Northern Oregon coast. A two-time Oregon Surf Perch Championship winner (2023 & 2025), Matthew specializes in shore-based surf perch and shad fisheries. Expect practical shoreline techniques and proven strategies from a dedicated coastal angler.

Jai Kim is an experienced surf perch angler and ODFW Certified Instructor leading workshops along the Oregon Coast. He has helped over 75 anglers catch their first perch and received the 2025 ODFW Angler Education Outstanding Volunteer Award for developing surf perch programs. A moderator of the Oregon Surf Perch Fishing Club (OSPF), Jai teaches safe and effective surf fishing techniques. In this seminar, he’ll cover essential gear and proven strategies for targeting redtail, with time for questions. There will also be a few free giveaways.
Capt. Jacob Mikoleit, Mikoleit Guide Service
"Coastal Fishing Adventures"
Born and raised in Depoe Bay, Jacob Mikoleit brings over two decades of hands-on charter and guide experience to the water. After 21 years working on Depoe Bay charter boats, he launched his own guide service and has spent the last 10 years leading successful salmon and steelhead trips across Oregon; and guiding seasons in Alaska as well. From Fall Salmon and Winter Steelhead on Oregon’s coastal rivers to ocean salmon and bottom fishing, Jacob offers both walk-in and float trips tailored to anglers of all experience levels. Expect practical river knowledge, local insight, and real-world tactics straight from a seasoned coastal guide.
