The Orion Electronic SOS Beacon Locator Kit features a beacon that flashes a bright "SOS" distress signal in Morse Code and complies with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requirements for night visual distress signals and a USCG approved signal flag that complies with requirements for daytime signaling.

The beacon flashes twice as long as the required continuous run-time and maintains constant light intensity 2.5 times longer than required. The light source extends 4" above the water line for additional visibility and features SOLAS Grade reflective tape at the waterline. It is made of high impact, high visibility orange ABS plastic and is equipped with encapsulated microprocessor electronics, a waterproof ON/OFF switch, double o-ring closures and low battery indicator function.
